Draft for review. This policy hasn't been approved yet and describes the game as planned for launch, including online play that is still in development.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-23 (draft)
This Privacy Policy describes how BeepBoop Studios LLC ("BeepBoop", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects information about you when you play On The Table on Meta Quest ("the game") and when you visit onthetablevr.com.
The short version
- We don't sell your data, and there are no ads in the game or on the website.
- Voice chat is live only. We don't record it, store it or listen to it.
- Your settings stay on your headset.
- The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers.
What the game uses
- Your Meta account basics. Your Meta user ID and display name, through Meta's Platform SDK. We use them to check that you own the game, to show your name to the players you play with and to connect you with friends you choose to play.
- Your avatar. If you play as your Meta Avatar, it's loaded through Meta's Avatars SDK and shown to the other players in your match.
- Your movement in online matches. Your headset and controller positions and your paddle's motion are sent to the other players in the match, so they can see you play and every headset can work out each hit. We may check this movement for signs of cheating. It isn't kept after the match.
- Voice chat. If you turn voice chat on, the Quest asks for microphone permission and your voice is streamed live to the other players in your match through Epic Online Services. You can turn voice chat off or mute your microphone at any time in Settings › Audio & Voice.
- Connection data. Online matches connect your headset to the other players' headsets directly (peer to peer), which means each side can see the other's IP address. When a direct connection isn't possible, the connection goes through Epic's relay servers. Epic Online Services also gives the game an ID linked to your Meta account so that matchmaking and rooms work. You don't need an Epic account.
- Settings on your headset. Your paddle grip and adapter fit, Physics Lab setups, and graphics, audio and haptics preferences are saved on your headset only. Uninstalling the game removes them.
- Diagnostics. Meta may collect crash and performance data for apps on Quest, under Meta's own privacy policy. We don't add any third-party analytics or crash reporting to the game.
Profiles, stats and leaderboards (coming later)
When we add player profiles, match stats and leaderboards, in the game and on this website, we'll store your Meta user ID (or an ID linked to it), your display name, your match results and your rating in a database run by Supabase. You'll be able to see this data and ask us to delete it. We'll update this policy before these features launch.
The website
- No cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Our fonts are served from our own site.
- The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
- Links to Discord, Meta and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
- If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
Alpha sign-ups
If you sign up for the closed alpha on this website, we keep what you type in the form: the email address on your Meta account, your Discord username if you give it, your headset, how often you play table tennis if you say, and when you agreed to be emailed. We store it in a database run by Supabase.
- We use it to invite you: we add your email to the game's Alpha channel in Meta's developer dashboard, and Meta emails you the invite. Meta handles that email under its own privacy policy.
- We may email you news about the alpha. Every email says how to stop them.
- We don't keep your IP address with your sign-up. To stop spam we count sign-ups from each connection for a minute, using a one-way scrambled version of the address that we can't turn back.
- We keep the list until the game launches, then delete it. Email support@onthetablevr.com to be taken off it sooner.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data.
- We don't run advertising in the game or on the website.
- We don't share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing.
Service providers we use
- Meta Platforms: the Meta Quest platform, accounts, ownership checks, friends and avatars.
- Epic Games (Epic Online Services): matchmaking, rooms, peer-to-peer connections and relays, and voice chat.
- Supabase: the alpha sign-up list, and player profiles, stats and leaderboards once they launch.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Discord: our community server, if you choose to join it.
Each of these handles your data under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Movement and voice in a match aren't kept once the match ends. Profile and stats data, once those features launch, are kept while your profile exists and deleted when you ask us to.
Children
On The Table is intended for players 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is playing, contact us and we'll delete any data we hold about them.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
If you're in the EU, the UK or California, you have the right to access, correct or delete your data. Email support@onthetablevr.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
We may update this policy as the game evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always shows the current revision, and we'll tell players about material changes in the game or on our Discord.
